As a gelato conniseuer I can confidently say this place ROCKS. Whether you're a fan of more traditional flavors (lemon sorbet, coffee), or something a little more wild (cinnamon) they are sure to have something that suits your taste buds! They also have cool swag for sale here as well as at the Obstinate Daughter (restauraunt upstairs owned by the same owner). The olive oil and sea salt gelato is my all time favorite! At least give it a sample!

The only "ice cream" place in that area. They call it gelato, but it's not. Not bad, but it's not gelato and it's pricey. Get the homemade gelato/ice cream sandwiches from the freezer. they are great!!

Are there words to describe how much I loved this place? No. Do I have to try? Yes. I am a HUGE fan of gelato, sorbet, ice cream, and pretty much every other frozen dessert, and since my sister was in town and we were headed to the beach, we decided to check out Beardcat's. BEST DECISION EVER. While I agree with others that they could have used some signage labeling the flavors, the staff was more than happy to explain each one and let us taste them. I ended up getting the grapefruit sorbet and the chocolate gelato in a fresh waffle cone. Odd combination right? WRONG! It was fantastic. I was really surprised with their sorbets - the grapefruit and the lime blew my socks off. We went pretty late, around 9:00, and the staff were still upbeat, which I really enjoyed. There wasn't a line at all, and I really liked that the staff weren't focused on cleaning and shutting down everything quite yet. They don't offer a million flavors, but the ones they have they do right! They also have pre-packaged cakes and containers if you need to pop in and grab a quick dessert. They are located within walking distance of Station 21 (I think that's the right number), so it'd be a great date to grab a snack and head down to the water. I can't wait to go back!

Olive oil and sea salt gelato. Simplicity at its finest and man was it good!! Great spot convenient to lots of great restaurants. Staff was very friendly too.

We decided to stop at Beardcat's for a little sweet treat after grabbing dinner at a nearby restaurant. It's a cute little shop that serves gelato, cookie/gelato sandwiches, various pastries, and some other items (refrigerated/frozen cinnamon rolls, biscuits). The two employees were great. Super sweet, friendly, and helpful. My husband and I each ordered a small. They helping was pretty big, and neither of us could finish. We would probably just get one to share. Each small allowed up to two flavors. The gelato was just ok. It was kinda gummy, the flavors were nothing to write home about, and I just don't think it stacks up to other gelato options in the Charleston area. Give this place a try if you're in the area, but don't go out of your way.

Yum. We decided to go here this afternoon to escape the rain. We both definitely have a sweet tooth, and this place hit the spot! A charming little gelato shop, house-made from scratch ingredients, including whole milk sourced locally. We had a sundae with a brownie, a scoop of cinnamon gelato, a scoop of hazelnut gelato and topped with hot fudge and caramel. It was huge - enough for us to share and ruin our appetite for dinner! Actually... There's no way we could skip dinner in this wonderful foodie town. Try it!

Carrot cake ice cream.. I will dream of you every night until I see you again! After dinner at The Obstinate Daughter, we went downstairs to check out their ice cream store. Didn't plan on ordering any until I sampled the carrot cake ice cream, and then I was hooked. The wise young girl behind the counter could tell I was a sucker and suggested pairing the carrot cake with the hazelnut, to which I couldn't say no! The hazelnut was also delicious, but nowhere near as dreamy as the carrot cake! My boyfriend has the strawberry and peach sorbets.. The peach sorbet literally tasted like someone froze some peaches, blended them and put them in his bowl. It was that good, and that fresh! You have to make sure to save some room for a visit to Beardcats! I can't wait to head back next week when my family is in town!

Searched Yelp for ice cream in the area and saw this cute little place. Wow $5.00 for a small average tasting ice cream cup! That is a lot of money for such a small cup of ice cream. Then they give you a baby taster spoon to eat with. You actually have to ask for an adult size spoon. There is no seating available so you have to enjoy your treat standing up. I will not be back!

After a delicious meal at Obstinate daughter we stopped downstairs at their gelateria coffee shop for a sweet treat. The staff was extremely friendly, and provided us with several free samples. It was hard to pick from the variety of delicious flavors. The gelato is house made from locally sourced ingredients, and you can definitely taste the difference. The pistachio gelato was some of the best I have had since living in Europe. They also serve some pre made sandwiches and take away savory items. The space is small so there isn't room to sit inside, but they do have some spots outside.

Like many people who ate at the Obstinate Daughter for dinner, I came here for a little late night treat. They let me sample any and every flavor that I wanted, but let me tell you it was allllllllll about the carrot cake. I'm a known chocoholic but on rare occasion I resist my chocolate cravings because the alternative is just that good...and this carrot was just THAT good.

A friend and I recently tried this place after lunch at Poe's. It's just a short walk away from most of the restaurants so it's way too easy to get tempted to go for ice cream after a meal. I thought the ice cream was really good, not blown away amazing, but definitely solid. They didn't really have any crazy flavor combos (Jeni's this is not) but everything looked so delicious that it made it hard to decide what to get. The only gripe I have about the place is that they don't post their flavors anywhere. I was told they change daily, which I think is awesome, but doesn't warrant the fact that you need to ask what a flavor is every.freaking.time. I mean, some are obvious, but there's no way I'm going to guess the peanut butter brittle chocolate caramel crunch one (I made this up for effect, I don't believe this is a real flavor). In their defense, they have little "markers" in the corner of the trays that represent the flavors (lemons, limes, etc) but it got old having to ask what certain flavors were. Surely, they can come up with a system they can easily update on a daily basis (little chalkboards, maybe?). Other than that small drawback, cute little shop that is a great addition to SI.

Walked in after a hot day at the beach, we tried a couple flavors. I settled on chocolate gelato and berry sorbet. $6.53 for a mediocre icy treat. I say settled because that's what I did. I felt bad trying several flavors and leaving empty handed. My cup had two side swipes with air under the middle. I would hope for $5 tax and tip I could get at least a full cup? Most of the gelato looked melted already in the strongly air conditioned space. The store is cute and colorful, the employees are friendly but the product is just not good. We were told two unsettling things while trying the flavors: 1 - "the berry was made fresh today" making me wonder: what about all the other flavors? they're just old? 2 - "our coffee gelato is made from the same grounds as our espresso" making me wonder if they brew espresso and the leftover grounds are going into the gelato? either way the grit of coffee in the smooth gelato felt like I was eating the dregs at the bottom of my French press.

This is a great addition to SI. I enjoyed a great scoop of cinnamon gelato. They have packed pints, cakes and ice cream sandwiches ready to go. Coffee and tea are also available. The service was friendly. The sitting area out front was inviting.

The most amazing gelato and sorbet bar none! Delicious chocolate sorbet, raspberry plum sorbet, chocolate brownie gelato. Unusual flavors like olive oil gelato make this place unique. Cute atmosphere too!

I love a good scoop of gelato. This new sweet shop that opened up on Sullivan's will now be one of my go-to spots during the summer. Their store just opened and you can tell it was super new. The inside is pretty plain, but it doesn't need to be anything extravagant just to serve some scoops of gelato. There was a lot of open space that could be used for tables, which they did not have inside or outside. (There was a bench around a tree out front) For two scoops of gelato, they charge $5. For three, they charge $7. Pretty standard pricing for gelato. They also had cookies/brownies, ice cream sandwiches, pints to go and gelato cakes. They served sorbet as well as gelato, but only a few select flavors. They allow you to taste any/all of the flavors before deciding. I had a scoop of the roasted peanut butter and banana and a scoop of the double fudge brownie. Both were fantastic! The brownie chunks in my gelato was delicious and I could eat an entire tray of them. My husband had the orange sorbet and dark chocolate gelato. Again, fantastic. The only other thing, besides no tables, that I didn't care for was their lack of signs inside showing what each gelato flavor was. They had ingredients in the corners showing you. Example: blueberry had blueberries, coconut had coconut, hazelnut had hazelnuts and so on. Flavors that were featured when we were there, that I can remember anyway- cinnamon, vanilla bean, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, roasted peanut butter and banana, double fudge brownie, orange, hazelnut, olive oil and sea salt (delicious!), blueberry, amaretto cherry (also delicious!). There were a lot of others, but I cannot remember what they were. They had only been open a day, so I am not sure if they have a rotation of flavors they'll implement. I will certainly be back!!

Great local place with amazing ice cream and incredible espresso. Always great to see a LaMarzocco machine at a coffee shop.

Just tried this gelato place after reading the great reviews and was not at all disappointed. Before this place my favorite ice cream /gelato parlor was Paolo's downtown but this restaurant is sooo much better. They have a lot of different flavors that change daily and they let you taste as many as you like. The carrot cake flavor is made from actual homemade cake from the Obstinate Daughter restaurant upstairs and is to DIE FOR! The pistachio is the best I've ever tasted. But for the most unusual and I think the best, go for the olive oil and sea salt. It is cream cheese flavored and they drizzle olive oil and sea salt over the top, it is wonderful. This is a must stop anytime you are in Sullivan's Island.

$7 for a waffle cone is absolutely nuts. Thought there was a mistake when the total was over $21 for 3 cones. Will stick with Cafe Medley for sweets while on Sullivans.

Rivals anything I had throughout Italy. I went two days in a row, and am planning my next trip to Sullivan's around Beardcats. The Olive Oil Gellatto is amazing! Sounds weird, I know, but give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
